Anyone have this? Is it worth it? I was thinking that given the nature of the leaking oil pans this might pay for itself.
I'd hate to do the whole swap to find out my pan was leaking and then have to pull the whole motor to remedy it.

That cross member would be a good idea. I pulled mine out at least 8 times. I know tony g runs one.

So I would be correct to think it would serve a LS swap as well.
All these stories of leaky pans has got me thinking it would be good to have should I need to get to the pan.

That x-member would be the greatest thing for an LS conversion. Due to the OE x-members steering rack mounts, the drivers side of the oil pan [moroso 20140 and milodon 30915] must be cut/notched to clear the drivers side steering rack mount boss.
If lindsey (or your machinest/welder) could weld those plates 1/2" lower, there would be no reason to mess with the pan at all!
But on second thought, the rack would be lower and so the balljoints on the spindles would have to be dropped as well. Modding oil pan or modding balljoints? Well then again, you have to drop the crossmember to make room for the LS intake/hood clearance.....my eyes just crossed. :D
Nevermind.

AVOID THE 3-PIECE. They crack under the torque of the V8.

Eric and I have thought of designing / producing a tubular steel crossmember, and it could easily be made removable. The end plates could match the modified sections of the cast piece, and bolted / unbolted @ the flanges.
One problem, though...the new bolt flanges would need to be (tig?) welded to the cast xmember. I don't know how well cast Al. takes weld...

Thanks for the heads up. that's money I could spend elsewhere if it's going to break. Let's just hope my oil pan doesn't leak! ;)
