This was my first swap. Mitsubishi only made about 1500 turbo mirages. It came with a 1.6L turbo motor that was good for about 135hp, not to bad for a 2500lb car. The great thing about these cars is you can easily drop in a 2.0 turbo engine from an Eclipse/Talon. The 2.0L motors are good for 190hp in stock form and can make 300+ with simple bolt ons.

I picked this car up with a blown motor for $700. I was able to install the 2.0L without changing anything. No motor mount kit or wire harness changes were needed! I installed a quaife dif and an upgraded 16g turbo but that was as far as I went. I was able to get it through the state ref pretty easily as well.

I had big plans for this car until I got a vacuum leak at the wastegate and blew the headgasket. I started tearing down the engine and had just bought a ported head and cam package, as well as the injectors, fpr etc. to make some serious hp. I then found a Porsche 944 turbo that was begging for a chevy LS1 to be dropped in it. Sure enough the Porsche grabbed all of my spare time and $$. I ended up unloading this car as a non-runner for almost nothing!

Check out this site, this is the car that made me want to build a mirage turbo.

Ahh, good ol' DSM's. They make great power...when they run.
