Hi I've been a lurker on the old board for a long time as i was contemplating this project. So with the advent of the new forum(s) i figured it would be a good time to make my project public.
I am building a time trials track car based on a 951 unibody, fully caged, with a twin turbo ls motor (high for turbo comp, low boost), mated to a modified t-56 (i know, should have just started with a c5/c6). I am planning on moving the firewall back a few inches to get most of the engine behind the front crossmember (c5r/c6r-esque).
My main motivation for wanting to build a car like this is that as a formula SAE alumni (any others in here?) i wanted a new challenge involving a relatively complicated project. I am working on this build with a friend who is building a car for the same class, from a Subaru WRX, also with a motor that subaru never intended to be in that car.
I'd like for this post to serve as an introduction and then to update the thread chronologically with posts until the thread is caught up to my current progress. So please, be patient as i am working full time as an engineer, starting a graduate degree (a slow one), and playing with formula cars in conjunction to this project.
And yes, i am fully aware that this is very ambitious, but if it wasn't it wouldn't be fun
