After much consideration, I've decided to sell my '83 944V8. It's a complete running and driving car, recently competed in the Grassroots Motorsports $2008 Challenge. Photos from my buildup of the car can be seen at:

4-bolt main 350 block, estimated 10k miles on rebuild according to guy I bought the engine from. Mild cam, Weiand intake and Edelbrock carb, HEI. Tilton bellhousing with hydraulic throwout bearing. Has the needle-style pilot bearing. Sanderson headers, cherry bombs and straight pipes terminating under diff. Battery relocated to spare tire well (passed NHRA tech at Gainesville Raceway). Gutted interior save for one racing seat (brand unknown, was in the car when I got it). Roll-up windows (converted from power). Clear title, most street equipment is operable (have fixed headlight conversion figured out and wired, but not mounted), but probably best as a dedicated racer / toy rather than a commuter car. Running lights, low-beam, high-beam, backups, left and right turn signals on individual toggles. Low beams, high beams, and electric cooling fan are all wired through relays located in original battery area. Engine (including cooling fan) is turn-key, no toggles or pushbuttons.

manual steering, manual brakes, original gauges replaced with aftermarket oil psi, water temp, and tach.

Runs great, handles very nice -- has weltmeister 250# springs in front, according to PO -- no other upgrades to suspension or drivetrain that I know of. Torsion bars have been indexed for lower ride height.

Known issues:
1. Slight clutch slip at full throttle in upper gears. Car still went 13.96 at 97mph leaving gently (2.05 60-foot).
2. The starter (a Hamburger hi-torque mini) doesn't work well when hot.
3. The brakes kinda suck, as is typical of OE 944 non-turbo brakes without vacuum booster. They stop the car, but pedal travel is pretty long.

Price Drop! $3000 (was $4k OBO), which includes a set of staggered 16" mesh rims (7" front, 8" rear) with Falken Azenis RT215s in 205/55, plus a set of 15x7" phone dials wearing 225/45 Hoosier A6 autocross tires, and a pair of 15x7" cookies with 26x10 Hoosier drag slicks.

More detail, and more pix, are available upon request. Please note the OBO behind the price. Not desperate, but not unwilling to dicker a bit.

Thanks,
Patrick
